Which installation workflow does my product use?

Does my product use the classic installer or the improved installation services?

In some 2020 and 2021 Autodesk products, improved installation services replace the classic installer previously used by most products. A new silent install workflow is available for both basic installation and deployment. In addition, products with the improved services are deployed from an interactive workflow within Autodesk Account rather than from an executable installer. Gradually, the improved installation services will be rolled out for the new versions of all products. This article will be updated as more products are included.

These products currently provide improved installation services, including silent installations:

• 3ds Max 2021
• AutoCAD 2021 for Mac
• AutoCAD LT 2021 for Mac
• Maya 2020
• Maya LT 2020
• VRED 2021

These products also provide improved services for deployments from Autodesk Account:

• 3ds Max 2021
• Maya 2020
• Maya LT 2020
• VRED 2021

The new installer works much like the previous version, but with these improvements:

• Fast and efficient downloads and installs
• Automatic validation of the Autodesk digital signature
• Choice of installation modes:
  • Online streaming
  • Offline streaming
  • Physical media-based installation
  • Multi-user deployment
• Option to roll-back to a clean system mid-installation
• Silent installation on Windows, macOS, and Linux
• Ability to restart to add, update, or remove components
