Deployment glossary

Administrative image. The folder within the deployment location that contains the batch file, installer, and source files for the Autodesk product.

Autodesk application mode. A mode in which you create each component as a separate application within SCCM.

Autodesk desktop app Installed with Windows-based Autodesk products (2017 and later), the desktop app delivers product updates, new releases, and security patches to subscribers.

Autodesk hybrid mode. A mode in which you use command lines in the batch file to deploy all components as a single application.

Autodesk online deployment creation. Used by some products, the improved Autodesk installation service downloads and repackages source files onto a network share. You can capture and deploy product customizations silently.

Autodesk package mode. A mode in which you use package deployment in SCCM.

Deployment wizard. Legacy term for the classic Autodesk installer through which you create a local Administrative image using downloaded media.

Deployment batch file. Located in the root folder of the deployment location, this batch file contains command line parameters which can be used to install the deployment on a client machine. The batch file contains command lines for three types of installation:

Downloaded media. Data downloaded using either the Download now or Browser download option.

Image creation tool. The bootstrap file downloaded from Autodesk Accounts for products that use the Autodesk online deployment creation workflow. Once launched, the tool creates the administrative image and writes it to the selected destination.
