To Set Up the Subcontractor Portal

As the project administrator, you can grant subcontractors permission to add attachments to issues, run reports, view the project library, or complete project checklists. It's not necessary to reassign different user roles for subcontractors.

The Subcontractor Portal is the page that subcontractors see when they sign in to the BIM 360 Field web application. The portal shows a list of the work assigned to them, allowing them to view details, comment, and mark the work as complete. They can't edit issues or see issues assigned to other companies.

  1. Click Profile menu > Project Admin.
  2. Click Members.
  3. Click (+) Members.
  4. In the Add Members dialog, you can add one member or several members at the same time.
    • To add a member, type the name and select Create New Member. Enter their name and email address.
    • To import existing account members, begin typing a name; then select it when it appears in the drop-down. Repeat to select more members.
  5. Select a company.
  6. For role name, select Subcontractor.
  7. Click Add To Project.

When subcontractors sign in to the BIM 360 Field web application, they see only the Subcontractor Portal. Issues that you created and assigned to their company appear in their list.

Note: Project Admins can also enable a Subcontractor role, which enables subcontractors to add new issues and assign these issues to their company or to the account company. The new permission does not allow subcontractors to create new issues and assign them to other subcontractors. Go to Project Admin > Details > Check Use updated subcontractor experience. Subcontractors will then be visible in Project Admin > Permissions.
