Measure or Calibrate Distances

Distance Between Two Points

Measure the distance between two points in a sheet/model, and view the XYZ differences between objects when measuring.

  1. Open a sheet/model Measure.
  2. Click Distance.
  3. Select the start and end point of the distance to be measured. If measuring between two objects in a model, select a point on each object.
  4. Select Restart to begin another measurement.

Angle

Measure the angle between points.

  1. Open a sheet/model Measure.
  2. Click Angle.
  3. Click a base point to measure from.
  4. Click the first point to measure from.
  5. As you move the cursor over a second point, the angle is displayed.

Area

Calculate an area by defining its perimeter.

  1. Open a sheet/model Measure.
  2. Click Area.
  3. Click to register a series of points to describe the perimeter of the area you want to calculate. The dimension label displays the area of the perimeter described since the first point.
  4. Select Restart to begin another measurement.

Change Unit

Change the unit of measurement, for instance, from feet and inches to meters.

  1. Measure the distance between two points.
  2. Click Measure Settings .
  3. In the dialog box, select Unit Type and change the unit of measurement.
Note: Any changes to a model's coordinate systems, including units, will result in issue pins becoming displaced.

Change Precision

Change the tolerance or precision of measurement.

  1. Measure the distance between two points.
  2. Click Measure Settings .
  3. In the dialog box, select Precision and change the unit of precision.

Isolate

Isolate to display only the objects that have been measured.

  1. Measure the distance between two points.
  2. In the Measure dialog box, select Isolate measurement.

Calibrate

Capture a known distance between two objects and then calibrate or adjust your model to reflect these dimensions and measurement units.

  1. Open a sheet/model Measure Calibrate.
  2. Select two points on the model.
  3. In the Calibration dialog box, enter a Size and Unit Type and press Enter.
