Measurements (iOS)

Measure distances and angles in 2D documents or 3D models, and areas in 2D documents. Adjust measurement settings according to your needs. For more information on measurement capabilities using the iOS app, see Mobile Capabilities.

Measure Distance Between Two Points

Measure the distance between two points in a 2D document or 3D model, and view the XYZ differences between objects when measuring. A magnified view of your points helps you capture an exact location.

  1. Tap to open a document or model.

  2. Tap Measure .

    Note: You need to use a known distance to calibrate documents or models that doesn't have calibration units specified. For more details, see Calibrate, below.
  3. Tap the start and end point of the distance you want to measure.

Tip: A magnified view is displayed as you tap and hold a point on an object.

Calibrate

Calibrate measurements in your documents and models, by entering a known distance between two points:

  1. Tap to open a document or model.
  2. Tap Measure .
  3. Tap Calibrate .
  4. Tap two points in the document.
  5. Enter the length value and choose a Unit.
  6. Tap Calibrate.

Change Unit or Precision

Change the unit of measurement:

  1. Tap to open a document or model.

  2. Tap Measure .

  3. Tap .

  4. Tap Units and change the unit of measurement as needed.

    Note: The available units include:
    • Decimal feet
    • Decimal inches
    • Fractional inches
    • Feet and fractional inches
    • Feet and decimal inches
    • Meters
    • Centimeters
    • Millimeters
    • Meters and centimeters

Change the tolerance or precision of measurement:

  1. Tap to open a document or model.
  2. Tap Measure .
  3. Tap .
  4. Tap Precision and change the unit of precision as needed.

Measure Angle

  1. Tap to open a document or model.
  2. Tap Measure .
  3. Tap Angle .
  4. Tap three points to measure an angle. The value of the measured angle is displayed.

Measure Area

  1. Tap to open a document.
  2. Tap Measure .
  3. Tap .
  4. Tap three or more points to measure an area. The size of the measured area is displayed.
Note: Be sure to tap on the first point to close the measured area.
