In the past sophisticated building energy simulations required a highly skilled and expensive individual to build a text based computer model of a building that contained all types of information that only an energy expert would know. This has always been the market barrier for any third party developers to develop such solutions. The large investment required to enable the developed applications to collect all the information necessary to conduct a simulation which was too difficult to justify the product managers. Green Building Studio (GBS) Web Service Application Programming Interface (API) changes all this. It enables third party application developers to access building energy simulation via their tools and integrate energy simulation with building design process.
GBS Web Service API is exposed using RESTful standard. It enables any third party application that supports the Green Building XML schema (gbXML) the ability to access building energy simulation service provided by GBS Web Service. Green Building Studio API creates an opportunity for independent software developers to sell services customizing Green Building Studio to specific customer needs.
