Define a Custom Lighting Analysis

In addition to LEED lighting analyses, it is possible to run a user-defined custom analysis.

When a LEED analysis is selected, a lighting analysis is performed for 9am and 3pm under clear sky conditions on a day (or days) within 2 weeks of September 21. Illuminance thresholds and the height above the floor at which the illuminance values are calculated are pre-defined based on LEED criteria. When a Custom analysis is selected, you can custom-define the days and times selected for analysis, the solar data values for GHI, DNI, and DHI, the illuminance threshold values, and the height above the floor level for which the illuminance will be calculated.

Defining environment settings

Click the button in the Environment section of the Lighting Analysis form to view the Environment Settings form.

The solar data values can either be manually entered, or the values for the specified date/time can be pulled from the weather data for the model's location. When using the values from the weather data, the sky cover percentage will be shown for the selected date/time. 0% indicates a clear sky.

Defining illuminance settings

When a Custom analysis is selected, the lower and upper threshold values can be specified, in either Lux or footcandles. These values will be used when generating the results.

The analysis plane height indicates the height above the floor at which the illuminance values will be defined.
