Bifrost is a plug-in for Autodesk Maya that provides a node-based framework for building custom effects including modeling, simulation, scattering, instancing, rigging, and more. You can preview the results directly in the viewport, and render with Arnold for Maya.
Versions of Bifrost are available for all Maya versions and their update releases beginning with Maya 2019. The latest version of Bifrost is available for the current major version of Maya as well as the two previous major versions (3 versions in total). For example, Bifrost 2.13.0.0 is available for Maya 2026.x (the current version at the time of release) as well as Maya 2025.x and Maya 2024.x. See Download and install Bifrost for Maya.
Graphs created in older versions of Bifrost generally work in newer versions, but may require some modifications if there have been compatibility-breaking changes. User-compiled custom nodes need to be recompiled if there have been changes to the API. Graphs created in newer versions of Bifrost will not work in older versions if they use nodes that were introduced later. See Bifrost for Maya Compatibility and the release notes for your version of Bifrost.
If the Bifrost Graph does not appear on Maya's Create menu, and Bifrost Browser and Bifrost Graph Editor do not appear on Maya's Windows menu, then the plug-in is not loaded. See Load the Bifrost plug-in.
