Aligned Edges

The Aligned Edges grading object attempts to create a well-defined surface geometry along a line. The line is not necessarily straight but can have corners or curves. Aligned Edges are useful when a linear elevation with a consistent slope is needed such as wall locations and parking lot ridge lines.

During optimization, surface triangle edges that touch an Aligned Edge object will attempt to align in the same direction and slope.

As Configured After Optimization

For a consistent contour break, it is recommended to keep the breakline property for the Aligned Edge enabled.

Tip: Aligned edges can be placed on top of drain lines to create sharp contours.
