Exclusion Zones

The Exclusion Zone grading object is used to represent an area of the surface that will not be optimized. Surfaces and objects within the closed geometry of the exclusion zone will not be considered and left unchanged during the grading optimization.

In the following exaggerated example, a rectangular area has been created as an Exclusion Zone.

Notice how the surrounding surface has been graded while the surface within the Exclusion Zone is left untouched.

Before Optimization After Optimization

Exclusion Zones may be used to protect areas that have been previously optimized, areas that should not be optimized, or to reduce optimization duration by ignoring areas in your project when testing grading object settings.
