A Zone is a closed geometric shape that specifies properties and constraints for a specific region of the surface.
Right-click the Zone tool in the Grading Object Tool palette and select Properties to access the Zone Tool Properties dialog. Use this dialog to define the default constraints for the zone tool.
Displays the icon representing the grading object. Right-click the icon and choose Select Image to change the icon for both Light and Dark themes.
Specifies the display name of the grading object. Edit this field when creating different tool versions for your workflow.
Specifies the tooltip when the cursor is placed on the tool in the Grading Object Tool palette. Edit this field when creating different tool versions for your workflow.
Select from one of the following slope constraint options for the zone.
Use Global Constraints. Specifies the Global Constraints specified in the Optimization Options dialog should apply to the zone.
Customize Slope Constraints. Enables slope constraint properties for the zone. When selected, you can edit slope constraint properties for the zone.
Max Slope. Specifies a maximum slope optimization constraint for the zone.
Min Drain Slope. Specifies the minimum drainage slope for the zone. For optimization, the zone must have an internal or external drain element or a specified Minimum Drain Inclination.
No Slope Constraints. Disables slope constraints for the zone. The minimum drainage slope elevation is then zero and the maximum slope elevation is infinity. When selected, the slope constraints cannot be edited.
Specifies that surface geometry aligns along a flat or asymmetrical plane dependent on the slope and drainage properties of the zone. The direction of this resulting sloped plane is defined by the Inclination Direction property.
When a zone considers its area as exclusive drainage, Grading Optimization will only recognize drain lines and low points within the zone. Drainage grading objects outside of the zone are ignored. Surface triangles outside of the zone, however, are influenced by the drain lines and low points of the exclusive drainage zone.
When a zone is specified to isolate internal drainage, drainage objects within the zone will not affect the drainage of other zones.
Specifies that every triangle on the surface has a minimum required inclination into a given slope as defined by the Inclination Direction property.
Specifies the direction of the Minimum Drain Inclination. In determining a direction, 0 is east; 90 is north; 180 is west; and 270 is south.
Represents a depth of materials that should not be considered with the cut and fill data.
When enabled, the zone segments work to create a consistent slope along the line.
Specifies surface triangles along the boundary are fixed to their original elevations so grading does not occur outside of the zone.
When enabled, the zone area considers the global Balance Cut and Fill constraint as specified in the Optimization Options dialog.
When enabled, the zone area considers the global Minimize Earthwork constraint as specified in the Optimization Options dialog.
When enabled, the zone area considers the global Surface Smoothing constraint as specified in the Optimization Options dialog.
