Delete or Restore Files and Folders

You can delete files and folders from the Files tool. Deleted files and folders move to the Deleted items area where they can be restored later if necessary.

Delete Files and Folders

Permission Required to Delete Files and Folders

You need Edit folder permission or above to delete files or folders.


Limitations

You can't delete files which are locked by other members.


How to Delete Files and Folders

  1. Select one or more files from the files list and either:

    • Right-click any of the selected files; or
    • Click the More menu in the action bar above the files list.
  2. Click Delete.

    The files and folders will move to Deleted items.

You need Edit permission or above to restore deleted files and folders.


Limitations

Files

If files are deleted you can restore those files as long as the folder containing the file is not deleted.

The restored file can't have the same name as another file in the folder it's being restored to.

How to Restore Files and Folders

  1. Click Deleted items.

    The folder structure is the same as the Folders tab in the Files tool. If you click a folder, any files and folders which were selected and deleted directly will display in the main area. If a folder containing files is deleted, only the folder will display.

  2. Select the items that you want to restore.

  3. Click Restore

    The folders and files you've selected will restore to their relevant parent folders.

    You can also search and filter Deleted items to find files and folders which are deleted but don't display. See Search Deleted Items
