Measure 2D Files on Mobile

To measure 2D files in the Autodesk Construction Cloud mobile app, you must first calibrate measurements according to your file's scale. Then you can add measurements that will save as markups on the file.

Calibrate Measurements on Mobile

To start measuring, you must calibrate the measurement on your file.

  1. Tap the ruler icon in the markups toolbar.

  2. Tap the calibration icon .

  3. To calibrate, select from two options:

    • 2 Point Calibration: Define a known length between two points to use as the basis of your calibration.

      1. Tap 2 Point Calibration.
      2. Tap and hold to create the first point of the line and drag across the length you want to use for calibration.
      3. Let go at the endpoint.
      4. Tap the arrow in the Unit field.
      5. Select (Android) or scroll to the desired value (iOS).
      6. Enter in the Size* that represents the scale of your line in real life (For example, a 1-cm calibration line could represent 5 m on site).
      7. Tap the arrow in the Precision field.
      8. Select (Android) or scroll to the desired value (iOS).
      9. Tap Publish.
    • Set Scale: Select the desired scale for the whole drawing file. This can match the actual scale detailed on the drawing file.

      1. Tap Set Scale.
      2. Tap the arrows in the Scale fields.
      3. Select (Android) or scroll to the desired value (iOS).
      4. Repeat with the Unit and Precision fields.
      5. Tap Publish.

You can return to these steps to edit the calibration or tap Delete at the bottom to remove it.

Create 2D Measurements on Mobile

After calibrating your file, you’re ready to start measuring.

  1. Tap the ruler icon in the markups toolbar to view the available measurement tools for 2D files.

Note: Depending on your device you may need to scroll left on the horizontal menu to view all the available tools.
    • Straight Line
    • Polyline
    • Freeform Line
    • Rectangular Area
    • Polygon Area
    • Freeform Area
  2. Tap on the first point of the measurement that you want to make.

  3. Continue to tap to create points that correspond to the shape you are measuring.

The measured value will appear in lines or free-form markups based on the actual length of the line. For rectangles, the number represents the area of the rectangle.

  4. To end a shape, tap on the first point.

Note: To stop a polyline measurement if you are not closing a shape, close the Tap to start polyline banner at the top of the screen.
  5. Edit and style the markup as desired. Learn more about editing markups.
