The Survey feature uses a list of surveying rules that are user defined. These rules dictate how the conversion occurs, whether it will convert similar items, or use multiple fittings to convert single items into many; for example, breeches (pants) piece into 2x 90 degree bends.
In the ESTmep installation directory, a ESTRULES.cfg file is used to configure the conversions. The following code format must be adhered to in order for the conversions to be successful.
All installations have an estrules.cfg file, and show examples of each conversion rules for each fitting.
The conversions take place when the original ESJ estimate is loaded and by going to the File Survey option. You are prompted to select a MAJ file which is required for converting.
The MAJ manufacturing file is compared and the items in the drawing are converted to equal rates of items already detailed in the quotation. New entries will be taken off using the same overhead percentages that exist in the Tender database.
