You can add a thumbnail image to the item file that is displayed in the Item Folders view and in the Service pallet. This thumbnail image helps to identify the part in the Fabrication products.
To create and add a thumbnail image of the item:
- Create an appropriately sized screenshot (thumbnail) image of the item, and save this file as .PNG. The recommended size is 64 by 64 pixels.
To create the item image, you can:
- Display the part in the Takeoff dialog's 3D Viewer window. Manipulate it as desired for view, rotation (3D isometric, 2D wireframe, etc), and so on. Then right-click
Save As Icon.
- Use an external screen or image capture tool.
Note: Typically, an image size of 64 by 64 pixels is sufficient. It is possible to use any file size; however, different sized images could result in lower or unacceptable image quality. You may need to experiment with various images sizes.
- In the Autodesk Fabrication product, display the Item Folders view.
- Right-click on the part in the Item Folders view and click Properties.
- Click the Pattern Template tab.
- Click the Change button.
- On the Change Item Image dialog, specify the image to be added.
The .png should be saved in the same location as the .itm file. Naming the .png to match the file name of the .itm allows the image location to be set to the default (recommended).
- In the Source field, the path and filename for the image file displays.
- Click Save.
