Once the item is created, named, and saved to an appropriate folder, the next step is to define the item's basic geometry (shape) and dimensions.
Note: The steps below describe how to create a simple 90 degree elbow pipework item. The parameters and dimensions described below are specific to that type of item. For other types of items, the geometry, dimensions and other parameters will be different. Configure the dimension and option parameters to meet the specification of the desired item.
- In the Item Folders view, right-click on the new item and click Edit.
- On the Takeoff dialog, click the Options tab.
- Set the Leg Lengths option to Includes Extension. Set this option by continuously clicking in the value cell until that option is displayed.
- Click the Dimensions tab.
- Lock the Inner Radius and Angle dimension values.
- Set the values of the Bottom Extension and Top Extension dimensions to Auto from the down-drop list, and then lock them.
- Now click the Options tab again.
- Change the Number of Segments option from 4 to 16, and then click Redraw button at the bottom of the dialog to make the geometry smoother.
- Leave the Takeoff dialog open.
At this point, this item's basic geometric shape is specified, but other tasks must be completed before this item can be used in the Autodesk Fabrication products.
The next step is to
specify the specification, material and gauge.
