You can make a copy of an existing content configuration and make changes to it for a specific project. This is sometimes referred to as cloning a configuration or database.
The Fabrication products provide a utility to clone an existing Configuration - The Autodesk Fabrication Migration Tool.
To clone, or make a copy of, an existing database:
- Click the Windows Start button
All Programs
Autodesk
Fabrication <product name> <version>
Autodesk Fabrication Migration Tool. The Migration Tool dialog displays.
- Select Import Fabrication Configuration. This copies an existing configuration and adds it to the list of available configurations in the Fabrication product start screen.
- In the Browse for Folder dialog, browse to the default location of the database you want to copy.
This is typically located in C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication <version>\Imperial Content. For example, to copy the default Imperial Content Configuration database that comes with the product, browse to C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication <version>\Imperial Content and click on one of the database folders located there, for example, the folder named V3.03, and click Select.
- A dialog displays prompting you to supply a name for this cloned database. Type in a name for the cloned database, or accept the default name, and click OK.
- A status dialog displays while the database is being copied (cloned), and a confirmation dialog displays when the cloning process is complete. Click OK to close this dialog.
- Close the Migration Tool dialog by clicking the X located at the top right corner of the dialog.
