Gang Rates

Gang Rates are used to assign multiple workers to a group or 'gang' of people. The Autodesk Fabrication product (ESTmep) calculates the rates of each person to generate an average hourly working rate for the installation time to be multiplied against on a particular project.

Labor Rates are entered and used to calculate the total installation cost of the project. This information is accessed from the Costing section of the Database (Database Costing), and selecting the Labor Rates option in the left pane.

You can enter a standard hourly rate for each of the skills (unskilled, low skilled, skilled, and high skilled) generated in the Installation Rate tables, or you can collectively group installation, based on a Gang Rate calculation.

The default installation tends to use the "Skilled" Labor Rate against all allocated Fabrication and Installation tables. This lets you specify an hourly charge against the Fabrication and Installation tables assigned to the items being taken off.

When the Gang Rate is created and is assigned to the Labor Rate, as shown in the "Company Standard" example above, the Skilled time from the job will use the Gang Rate calculation in place of the Value £ field. When using Gang Rates, the Estimate Summary screen when first loaded for a quotation prompts for allocation and population of the Gang Rate fields.

You can add multiple workers with varying rates for inclusion into the calculation. Workers can be named according to their trade, as shown in the example above.

On the Edit Gang Rates dialog, the Workers table includes the following columns of information:
