Access Online and Offline Help

The Fabrication products provide access to both online and offline versions of Fabrication product Help. Online Help refers to Help that is displayed using an Internet connection, and is not stored locally. Offline Help is a version of Help that is stored locally, and does not require an Internet connection to be displayed.

Accessing Online Help

You can access the online Help for the Fabrication products in a variety of ways.

CADmep

To display Fabrication products online Help from within the CADmep user interface:

  1. In the drawing area, right-click CADmep Help.

This Help system provides information about all three Autodesk Fabrication products (CADmep, ESTmep, and CAMduct). Much of the information is common across all of these products.

Because CADmep is combined with AutoCAD software features, in CADmep only, you can also access online Help for AutoCAD features too (AutoCAD Help). Use any of the following methods to display online Help for AutoCAD features from within the CADmep application:

Once the AutoCAD Help is displayed, use the Search feature to locate information.

Tip: Add any Help topic location as a bookmark or favorite in your browser window for quick and easy access to your favorite Help topics at any time.

ESTmep and CAMduct

To display Fabrication products online Help from within the ESTmep or CAMduct applications, use any of the following methods:

ESTmep Ribbon Tooltip Help

In ESTmep, hovering the mouse cursor over a button on the Utility Bar options available in the new ribbon displays a tooltip with information about the control. Pressing the F1 key on the keyboard while hovering over a tooltip on the ribbon automatically displays a context-sensitive Help topic associated with the command.

Accessing Offline Help

When an Autodesk Fabrication product is installed, the offline Help is stored in the following location by default: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Fabrication <year>\Help\. Click on the index.html file to display the Table of Contents.

This Help could be moved to a different location, so check with your system administrator, or software installer, if the offline Help is not in that default location.
