of intended future API capabilities. You are encouraged to use it and report any problems or suggestions using the
Fusion API and Scripts forum.
Because this is a preview of future functionality, there is the possibility that it will change, which will possibly
break any existing programs that use this functionality. Because of that, you should never deliver any programs that use
any preview capabilities. For a distributed program, you should wait until it has moved from preview to released state.
The definition for an edge flange feature, providing access to the parameters that define the feature.
| Name | Description |
| classType |
Static function that all classes support that returns the type of the class as a string. The returned string matches the string returned by the objectType property. For example if you have a reference to an object and you want to check if it's a SketchLine you can use myObject.objectType == fusion.SketchLine.classType(). |
| setDistanceExtent |
If the current extent type is to entity, this method changes it to a distance extent. |
| setToObjectExtent |
If the current extent type is a distance extent, this method changes it to a to entity extent. |
| Name | Description |
| angle | Gets the parameter that controls the angle of the flange. To edit the angle, use the properties on the returned ModelParameter object. |
| bendPositionType | Gets and sets the bend position type for the edge flange. To set this property, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| distance | Gets the parameter that controls the extrude distance of the flange. To edit the distance, use the properties on the returned ModelParameter object. This returns a parameter when the extent type is set to distance and returns null when the extent type is set to ToObject. |
| edgeDefinitions | Returns the collection of FlangeEdgeDefinitions objects that defines the edges and how their width is defined. If the extent type is set to ToObject, only a single edge can be used, so the collection should contain only one edge. For a distance extent type, multiple edges can be used. To make any changes to the edges, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| extentType | Gets the height extent type for the edge flange. To change the extent type, use the appropriate set method on the EdgeFlangeFeatureDefinition object. |
| heightDatumType | Gets and sets where the height is measured from. To set this property, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| isFlipped | Gets and sets if the flange direction is flipped. To set this property, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| isMiteredCorners | Gets and sets if the corner is mitered when there are adjacent flanges. To set this property, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| isValid | Indicates if this object is still valid, i.e. hasn't been deleted or some other action done to invalidate the reference. |
| objectType | This property is supported by all objects in the API and returns a string that contains the full name (namespace::objecttype) describing the type of the object. It's often useful to use this in combination with the classType method to see if an object is a certain type. For example: if obj.objectType == adsk.core.Point3D.classType(): |
| toEntity | Gets and sets the entity to extend to when extentType is ToObject. If another extent type is defined, this returns null and setting it will fail. This can be a planar BRepFace, ConstructionPlane that is parallel to the edge being extended or a BRepVertex or ConstructionPoint that defines the entity to extend to. The flange will extend to this entity with an offset defined by the offset parameter. To set this property, you need to position the timeline marker to immediately before this feature. This can be accomplished using the following code: thisFeature.timelineObject.rollTo(true) |
| toEntityOffset | Gets the offset distance parameter when using ToObject extent type. If another extent type is defined, this returns null. |

| Flange Feature Sample | Demonstrates accessing and creating sheet metal flange features including base flange, contour flange, and edge flange. To run the sample script, have a design open in Fusion's DESIGN workspace that contains a sheet metal body in the root component. The body must have at least one linear edge on its outside that is valid for a flange. A design created with the Sheet Metal > Create > Flange commands, or any design containing a base flange, satisfies this. The script first iterates over any flange features that already exist in the design and reads the settings from each definition, so the reading portion reports nothing if the design has no flanges yet. It then finds the first linear edge on the first body in the root component and uses it to create a new edge flange feature. Reading the edges back from the created feature requires rolling the timeline marker to immediately before the feature, which the script does using TimelineObject.rollTo. |
