FlangeEdgeDefinitions.addSymmetricEdge Method

Parent Object: FlangeEdgeDefinitions

PreviewThis functionality is provided as a preview of intended future API capabilities. You are encouraged to use it and report any problems or suggestions using the Fusion API and Scripts forum.

Because this is a preview of future functionality, there is the possibility that it will change, which will possibly break any existing programs that use this functionality. Because of that, you should never deliver any programs that use any preview capabilities. For a distributed program, you should wait until it has moved from preview to released state.

Defined in namespace "adsk::fusion" and the header file is <Fusion/SheetMetal/FlangeEdgeDefinitions.h>

Description

Adds a new edge where the flange is centered at the midpoint of the edge and the width defines the distance from the center of the edge to each side of the flange. So the total width of the flange is twice the width value.

Syntax

"flangeEdgeDefinitions_var" is a variable referencing a FlangeEdgeDefinitions object.

returnValue = flangeEdgeDefinitions_var.addSymmetricEdge(edge, width)
"flangeEdgeDefinitions_var" is a variable referencing a FlangeEdgeDefinitions object.

#include <Fusion/SheetMetal/FlangeEdgeDefinitions.h>

Return Value

Type Description
SymmetricFlangeEdgeDefinition Returns the newly created SymmetricFlangeEdgeDefinition object or null if the creation failed.

Parameters

Name Type Description
edge BRepEdge The BRepEdge that defines where the flange will be created. The edge must be linear and along the outside of a sheet metal body.
width ValueInput Defines the distance from the center of the edge to each side of the flange, so the total width of the flange is twice the width value. This value is used to create the parameter that defines the width. If it is a real value it will be interpreted as centimeters. If it is a string it behaves the same as entering the value in the command dialog. A string like "1.5" will be 1.5 of whatever the current design units are. You can also specify the units as part of the string so "1.5 in" is valid. You can also define equations like "length / 2" where length is the name of an existing parameter.
