Circular Pocketing reference

2D Offset Roughing optimizes the toolpath where circular geometry is detected.

In CAM, you do not need to choose a special strategy for machining circular pockets. Instead, the 2D Offset Roughing strategy automatically detects circular geometry and creates an optimal high-speed spiral toolpath.

To machine circular pockets, simply create a 2D Offset Roughing operation and choose a circular edge, sketch segment or face.

2d pocket circular example

A 2D Offset Roughing operation on a circular pocket. The toolpath is done as a spiral using 180 degree arcs.

2d pocket non-circular example

The same 2D Offset Roughing operation on a non-circular pocket.
