Use a bounding solid as stock in a setup

Use a bounding solid as the stock when you create a setup in Fusion. Create a bounding solid in the Design workspace and select it as the stock for a setup in the Manufacture workspace.

Using a bounding solid lets you:

• Position stock in a fixture, such as a vise, and use joints to accurately clamp the stock.
• Measure stock dimensions, making it easier to include information in a Bill of Materials (BOM).

Use a bounding solid as stock

1. Create a bounding solid.

2. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, on any tab, click Setup > New Setup.

   The Setup dialog opens.

3. In the Stock tab, set the Mode to From Bounding Solid.

4. On the canvas, click the bounding solid.

5. By default, the setup uses the coordinate system of the bounding solid. If you want to use a different coordinate system, in the Setup tab, in the Work Coordinate System (WCS) group, change the Orientation.

6. Complete the rest of the dialog.

7. Click OK.

The setup is created using the bounding solid as stock.
