Generate outcomes for configurations
Learn how to create, generate, and compare Generative Studies for Configurations in the Generative Design workspace in Fusion.
Create and generate a Generative Study for a Configuration
In the Browser, activate the Configuration you want to create a generative study for.
Switch to the Generative Design workspace.
The New Generative Study dialog displays.
Select a Study Type.
Click Create Study.
The new Generative Study for this Configuration appears in the Browser.
On the Generative Design toolbar, set up your study:
- Use the Study tool to create additional studies for the active Configuration, manage studies, and modify study settings.
- Enter the Edit Model contextual environment to create or edit model, obstacle, and preserve geometry.
- Use the Design Space tools to assign preserve, obstacle, and starting geometry.
- Use the Design Conditions tools to apply constraints and loads.
- Use the Design Criteria tools to define optimization objectives and manufacturing constraints.
- Use the Materials tools to select study materials, create new material libraries, and modify material properties.
Use the Generate tools to preview and generate outcomes:
- Run a Pre-Check.
- Use the Previewer to see how the setup affects the outcomes.
- Generate outcomes.
- View progress in the Job Status dialog.
- Use the Generate Details tool to view study details.
Enter the Explore contextual environment to view and compare Outcomes:
- Use the Outcome Filters panel to filter outcomes by properties such as processing status, study, design document, manufacturing method, materials, and objective ranges.
- Use the Display tools to view Outcomes in different ways.
- Use the Export CSV tool to export a table of outcomes' data to a
CSV
document.
- Use the Create tools to create designs and mesh designs from outcomes.
Studies and their results are associated with the active Configuration they were created for, and remain that way even when you activate different Configurations. Results go out-of-date if you update the associated Configuration in the Design workspace or Simplify contextual environment.
Compare outcomes from different Configurations
- Enter the Explore contextual environment.
- On the Explore toolbar, click Compare to enter the Comparison View contextual environment.
- Sort outcomes by Configuration.
- Select Outcomes from different Configurations to compare.
The Outcomes display in Comparison View.
Activate a different Configuration
- Switch to the Generative Design workspace.
- In the Browser, expand the list of Configurations.
- Select a Configuration.
The Configuration you selected displays in the canvas. In the Browser, all existing Generative Models and Generative Studies for this Configuration display. If you haven't created a generative study for this Configuration yet, a New Generative Study dialog appears.
