Term Definition
Drawing A set of sheets that document a design using scaled 2D orthographic and isometric views, annotations, and tables to aid in manufacturing.
Browser An organized view of the data in your design. You can control document settings, sheet settings, component suppression, and component visibility here.
Sheet A 2D representation of a portion of a design, with annotations and tables, sized to print within a drawing set.
Title Block A template of geometry and information that displays on each sheet in a drawing.
Border A template that displays around the perimeter of each sheet in a drawing.
Drawing Template Stores title blocks, borders, document settings, sheet settings, placeholder views, placeholder part lists, and text for use in future drawings to ensure consistency.
Document Settings Drawing standard, unit, text, dimension, and line width settings for the current drawing.
Sheet Settings Sheet size, title block, and border settings for the current sheet.
Drawing View An object that displays a 2D projection of a 3D design.
Base View A direct projection of the 3D design, viewed from a specific direction. The first drawing view that you place on a sheet.
Base View Placeholder A base view that you place on a sheet in a drawing template. When you create a drawing from the drawing template, the base view placeholder automatically generates a base view of the referenced assembly in the new drawing.
Projected View An orthographic view that is generated from the base view, another projected view, or a section view on the current sheet.
Projected View Placeholder A projected view that you place on a sheet in a drawing template. When you create a drawing from the drawing template, the projected view placeholder automatically generates a projected view of the referenced assembly in the new drawing.
Section View A drawing view that cuts through a design to reveal the inside.
Detail View A drawing view that shows a portion of another drawing view at an enlarged scale.
Drawing Sketch A group of custom non-associative geometry, manually drawn in the Sketch contextual environment within the Drawing workspace.
Parts List A table that catalogs the components of a design, including item numbers, quantities, part numbers, names, descriptions, and materials.
Table Placeholder A table that you place on a sheet in a drawing template. When you create a drawing from the drawing template, the table placeholder automatically generates a parts list for the referenced assembly in the new drawing.
Balloon Identifies a component included in the parts list by labeling it on a sheet.
Bend Identifier A leaderless note identifying a bend center line within a flat pattern for a sheet metal component.
From Design Creates a drawing to document the current design. You can document the full assembly, visible components, or a set of components that you select in a new or existing drawing.
From Animation Creates a drawing to document the current design. You can document the storyboard as an exploded view in a new or existing drawing.
