Inserting SVG files in electronics documents

Insert SVG is a simple way to import an image. You can insert the SVG file, such as a company logo or other essential symbol, into your schematic or PCB documents. By importing SVG files into your design editor, you can achieve precise vector-based graphics for detailed silkscreen work and accurate logo placement. Insert SVG is also available in the library document symbol and footprint editors.

When you import an SVG image, the curves are placed onto a target layer. The image is placed in the canvas as a Group that you can drag and move as a whole from the Design Manager. You can:

Known limitations

Multiple colors: SVGs with multiple colors are not supported and may import as a single color.

Background: Remove background boxes before import.

CSS Styles: Styles defined in CSS are not supported.

Data Precision: The application requires high precision (typically 0.00001), so some filled shapes may be imported as unfilled or with no filled area at all.

Text: Convert text used in a logo into shapes before importing.

Performance: Large or complex images may experience performance issues while moving.​
