Add a port to a module

Add ports to export nets from a module to the higher-level schematic design.

  1. Open a schematic sheet that contains a module.

  2. On the Schematic Design toolbar, click Connect > Port Port icon.

  3. In the Port dialog, select the direction for the port: io (default), nc, in, out, oc, pwr, pas, or hiz.

  4. Click the module instance to place a Port Instance on it.

  5. Move the Port Instance to the desired position on the module boundary and click to place it.

  6. In the Select dialog, do one of the following:

    • Select an existing net from the module to export that net with the new port.
    • Enter a name in the New field to create a new net for the port.
  7. Click OK to place the port.

A port is created on the module and a Port Instance appears on every instance of that module in the schematic.

Note: Copy and paste do not apply to Port Instances. To add another port, repeat this command.
