Add an SMD pad array
Add a series of surface-mounted device (SMD) pads to an integrated circuit (IC) or chip footprint.
- With an open library, click New Footprint, and choose to either draw one from scratch, or import an existing symbol as a basis.
- On the Library Symbol toolbar, click Place > SMD Pad Array .
- In the SMD PAD ARRAY dialog, specify a Base Name, which is often a single letter, with or without a hyphen.
- Select which sides of the chip to place pins on.
- Specify the number of pins and the start index, which is often 1.
- Choose whether to draw a rectangular outline of the chip and whether to include >NAME and >VALUE labels.
- In the SMD Spacing fields, specify the X and Y distances between adjacent pads.
- Click OK and place the chip in the canvas.
