Outcome preview
Generate an outcome preview based on the general study settings before you run a job.
Generate the preview using Previewer 
. You can access it from the Generate panel of the Generative Design toolbar.
Using Previewer enables you to see a trend showing how the study setup affects outcomes. You can view where material is placed during the generation. It also helps to reduce the time and number of generative jobs needed to obtain desired outcomes.
Using Previewer is optional, but it is a good practice to use it before you run an outcome generation.
Notes:
- Previewer uses only general study settings to generate a preview. For example, it is generated for the Unrestricted manufacturing method and one selected material.
- Preview is generated for all active loads cases; it does not include suppressed load cases.
- Each time you modify the study settings, the preview becomes out of date. You need to generate the preview again.
Previewer status
You can find the following icons in the Preview bar, which changes depending on the status.
In progress. Indicates that the preview is being generated. You can pause the visualization of this preview during its generation using the Pause icon 
or resume it using the Continue preview icon 
.
Error. Indicates that the Previewer encountered a problem and failed to generate the outcome preview. You can see the error state, for example when:- The time for generating the preview has been exceeded.
- The preview is no longer available.
- The problem with internet connection has occurred
- Obstacles geometries are blocking the line of sight between preserve geometries.
- Preserve geometries have separated.
- Previewer cannot fully capture the complexity of the study setup.
In such cases, you will receive the message where you can find instructions on what to do to generate the preview successfully. If the problem persists, contact Autodesk Support.
Warning. Indicates that the preview is out of date and appears after modifying the study settings. To see the preview for the modified settings, you need to generate the preview again. To regenerate it, use the Regenerate icon 
on the Preview bar or the Previewer tool on the ribbon.
Completed. Indicates that the preview has been successfully generated. You can see the preview for the active study on the canvas.
