Before you start, you need to:
You must follow the steps in the Get Started with Fusion Walkthrough to create My first box and its accompanying drawing.
Open My first box in Fusion.
In the Design workspace, open the Manage tab.
Click Assign .
In the Assign Item Number dialog, in the Numbering Scheme column, select the appropriate numbering schemes to use for the items in the list.
Click Submit.
Wait for an item number to be assigned, then click Close.
Open the Data Panel and locate your design.
Notice that the current version has been assigned a milestone.
Repeat the preceding steps for the drawing for My first box.
With My first box open, in the Design > Manage tab, select Release > Release with Change Order .
In the Release dialog, click Create CO.
In the Title box, type in a title for your change order (CO), for example: Release my first box
.
From the Approvers drop-down list, choose yourself.
From the Reason for Change drop-down list, choose Initial Release.
Click Save.
The change order is saved and you now must configure the items to include on the CO.
In the Affected Items tab click Save, then click Add.
From the All Workspaces drop-down list, select Drawings.
Select the drawing for My first box, then click Add.
Now that you have added all required items to the CO, you must set their lifecycle state that they will be assigned upon completion of the CO workflow.
Click Edit.
From the Lifecycle drop-down list, select Go to Pre-Production for both the design and the drawing.
Click Save.
In the Approval Workflow tab, click Submit to Work.
The CO is now configured and the workflow is at the Work state. This means that the items can be worked on further.
We will now walk through the steps you must complete when further design changes happen while the item is already linked to a CO.
Close the Release dialog.
In the Fusion Browser, right-click My first box and select Properties.
In the Properties dialog, scroll down to the Manage section.
The Change Order field shows the item number of the CO created for the design to indicate the link between the design and the CO.
In the Timeline, right-click the Hole operation and select Edit Feature.
Change the diameter of the hole to 55mm.
Save the changes; do not assign a milestone.
In the Data Panel, a new version of the design has been saved and the milestone icon turns grey to indicate it is a historical milestone.
In the Properties, the Change Order field is now blank because the latest version is not linked to the CO you created previously.
It is important to now set a milestone for the latest version so that the CO picks up the design changes. Currently, it is the previous milestone version that is linked to the CO. Only the latest version that is assigned a milestone is attached to the CO.
In the Data Panel , click the version icon for My first box.
Place your pointer over the latest version and click the more actions icon .
Select Create Milestone.
Type in a name for the milestone, for example Ready for pre-production
.
Click Create Milestone.
In the Data Panel, the latest version now has a milestone.
In the Properties, the Change Order field shows the CO item number again to indicate that this version is linked to the CO you created previously.
Open the drawing.
Update the drawing with the latest design changes.
Save changes and set a milestone.
For the sake of demonstration, you will approve your own CO.
From the design's properties, under the Manage section, click the CO item number.
The CO opens in a web browser.
In the Approval Workflow tab, click Bypass Review & Approve.
Optionally, type in a comment, then click Approve.
The workflow moves to the Approved (Closed) state and the items in the CO have been released to pre-production.
In the Affected Items tab, click the item number for the design.
The item opens. The header of the page shows the name and number of the item, as well as its Revision level (1) and Lifecycle state (Pre-Production).
Explore the other tabs of the item.
In the item header, click Linked.
The item opens in the the Fusion web client. This page also shows that the latest version has been assigned a revision milestone , as well as its Revision level (1) and Lifecycle state (Pre-Production).
