Recognize features in a design

Find Features adds features to the browser based on the selected geometry.

Find Features, also called feature recognition, is a process for extracting design feature information from a solid model. Use Find Features on imported models to build browser features.

Find Features adds features to the browser. The tool does not modify the geometry of the body. Features aid in selecting geometry to modify the body. You can apply Find Features to bodies or faces. In the Find Features dialog, specify the feature types to recognize.

After a feature is found, you manage it in the same way as features created with traditional methods. Features can be edited, deleted, or dissolved.

  1. In the Design workspace, Solid tab, select Create > Find Features.
  2. Select the body in the browser and, in the Find Features dialog, select one or more of the following:
    • Select All
    • Fillet
    • Hole
    • Chamfer
    • Extrude
    • Revolve
    • Mirror
    • Circular Pattern
    • Rectangular Pattern
  3. Select OK to complete the tool and populate the features in the browser.
