Create a primitive cylinder

Learn how to use the Cylinder command to create a surface body in the shape of a primitive cylinder in Fusion.

Note: Only available in Direct Modeling mode.
  1. On the toolbar, click Surface > Create > Cylinder cylinder icon.

  2. In the canvas, select a plane or planar face.

  3. Place the center point of the cylinder.

  4. Place a point on the circumference of the cylinder, or specify an exact Diameter value, to define the base of the cylinder.

    The Cylinder dialog displays.

  5. Drag the Diameter and Height manipulator handles in the canvas to adjust the size of the cylinder, or specify exact values.

  6. Select an Operation, and adjust its associated settings:

    • new body icon New Body: Creates a new body in the active component.
    • new component icon New Component: Creates a new body in a new component.
  7. Click OK.

The surface body displays in the canvas, in the shape of a primitive cylinder.
