Resolved issues
Usability
- The file recovery dialog now displays file details in separate columns rather than one long row.
- Updated logic which assumed there would only ever be one concurrent instance of Fusion running on a single device.
- Multiple instances should not continue to offer/display recovery files for an instance which is still running or has been opened by another instance.
- Scanning for recovery files now occurs on a timer, rather than just at startup.
- When one of multiple instances crashes, another will now detect the recovery file from that instance within 15 seconds and offer to open it.
- The render hardware interface, which draws command dialogs and toolbar UIs will now default to Direct3D 11 on Windows, and Metal on ARM macOS. x86 Macs will continue to default to OpenGL. This can be changed in the Compatibility & Troubleshooting section of Fusion's Preferences. Internal testing suggests that this change yields a 5% performance increase on average over OpenGL on modern hardware. This change does not affect the modeling canvas.
- The mouse cursor could get stuck as the "+" selection cursor after finishing a simulation study.
- Uploading files to Fusion on Windows no longer gets blocked by macOS/Unix dot-underscore (._) files. They are quietly filtered out.
- Opening a Fusion file from the File Manager or OS desktop opens up a new tab in Fusion (if already running) instead of launching an additional Fusion instance.
- Resolved an issue with right-mouse-clicking a Component Browser node on macOS where its context menu disappeared as soon as it opened.
- Resolved an issue where clicking the corner of the File icon sometimes created a new Electronics design document.
- Improved the behavior of the “Server Verification Warning” dialog to show up only when most necessary.
- Pocket Clearing operation with the Rest Machining option enabled should produce more efficient ramp moves, reducing machining time.
- Resolved an issue where the head of the machine was not accounted for when avoiding collisions in drilling toolpaths. This meant we would not correctly avoiding collisions when drilling inside cavities or regions on the model with an overhang. If a machine is loaded in the setup, we will now use its dimensions to correctly account for the size of the machine's head in collision avoidance. If not, we use a suitably large default size.
- Resolved an issue where the Corner toolpath using the 'Along with constant stepover' option on the Passes tab would significantly over-machine in steep areas. Now the toolpath will contain fewer redundant passes, removing excess stock more efficiently.
- Resolved an issue where drilling operations did not apply all machining modes to surfaces in the Machine/Avoid table. Previously, surfaces set to Fixture would be treated as fixtures, but all other surfaces would be treated as machine surfaces. Some of the work to support other machining types has now been added. Now, the toolpath will recognize when hole surfaces are set to avoid/gouge and not drill the hole. However, if a top surface is set to avoid/gouge, the toolpath will still drill holes in this top surface if they are set to machine. Further work will be done to implement full support.
- Resolved an issue involving the option to turn collision checking of the flute of the tool against the model on and off for drilling toolpaths. This tick box was not discoverable enough, and its previous name 'Use Tool', did not clearly relate it to the 'Flute' or cutting part of the tool. The heading of the parameter group for collision avoidance is now called 'Flute, Shaft & Holder' and the tick box to turn the option on or off is called 'Use Flute'. Now it is on by default when collision avoidance is activated. This change is limited to drilling toolpaths, where checking against the flute can be turned on or off. Elsewhere it is always on.
- Resolved an issue where for drilling operations, the option to do collision avoidance with respect to the flute (i.e. the cutting part of the tool) was unavailable when the Detect Tool Length option was chosen. No checking was happening with respect to the Flute, because these collisions cannot be resolved by adjusting the tool length. We have now enabled the option to check the flute and set it on by default. When using Detect Tool Length for drilling operations, if a flute collision is found, we now skip the hole that involves the collision to ensure a safe toolpath.
