Export simulation model

Export a Simulation Model for use as a new base model.

You can export any Simulation Model you have created as a new Fusion base model (*.f3d) or in a variety of other CAD formats.

  1. In the Simplify contextual environment, in the Browser, right-click the name of the simulation model you wish to export (Simulation Model x or your customized name).

  2. Select Export from the context menu.

  3. Specify the desired filename. The default name is the same as the simulation model name shown in the browser.

  4. Select the desired file Type. The choices are as follows:

    • Fusion Files (*.f3d): Native Autodesk Fusion design file format
    • LMV Files (*.svf): Simple Vector Format (for the Large Model Viewer)
    • SMT Files (*.smt): Autodesk ShapeManager Format
    • SPD Files (*.spd): Form Z Suspended Rendering File
    • Universal CAD formats (local export only):
      • IGES Files (*.igs *.iges)
      • SAT Files (*.sat): ACIS file format
      • STEP Files (*.stp *.step)
  5. Select one or both of the following export options by activating the associated checkboxes:

    • Save to a project in the cloud

    • Save to my computer

      Note: The first option (save to cloud) is only available for Fusion Files (*.f3d). You can save all available file formats to your local computer or network.
  6. Specify one or both of the following two save locations:

    • Select the cloud project location from the drop-down list.
    • Select the local folder where you want to save the exported model. Click the ellipsis button () to browse to the desired target folder on your local computer or network. Then, click Select Folder.
  7. Click Save to complete the simulation model export, or click Cancel to abort the operation.
