Verify the design of your Generative Design outcome with a Static Stress analysis, by calculating the stress, strain, displacement, and safety factor resulting from the applied loads.
When you open the design in the Simulation workspace, Fusion automatically creates a Static Stress study using the generative study settings. The simulation study uses the same loads, constraints, and materials that were applied in the generative study. It is recommended that you check the Static Stress study before solving to make sure the settings are as you expect. It is recommended to:
check that the loads and constraints are applied properly.
check the preserve geometry where you applied loads and constraints. They could get modified during the generation of outcomes if the obstacle geometry was not used.
check if the same materials are used.
To set up a Static Stress study:
Click on your outcome of interest in the Explore tab of the Generative Design workspace, to open it in the Outcome View tab.
Click (Generative Design workspace > Outcome View > Create > Design from Outcome) to create a new design from the outcome.
When the design is ready, click the Design ready message to continue.
In the Design ready dialog, click Open design to open the model in the Design workspace.
In the ribbon, click Design to open the list of workspaces, and select Simulation, to switch to the Simulation workspace.
In the Generative Design Inputs Available dialog, click Yes to create a Static Stress study.
[Optional] Modify the analysis conditions, as appropriate.
Click (Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Solve panel > Pre-check) to confirm the setup is ready to solve.
Click (Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Solve panel > Solve) to run the analysis.
You can set up several simulation studies from a generative study, with different study setups for each design. After solving, you can use the results to select an optimal design.
From the Setup tab, select (Setup tab > Study panel > New Simulation Study from Generative Design) to create another simulation study.
In the Generative Design process stresses are treated slightly differently than in the Simulation workspace. During the generation of outcomes, some areas of the design can violate the factor of safety to allow the generation to proceed (less than 1% of the design can violate the factor of safety). The design may show some limited factor of safety violations that you could edit after a simulation validation.
