Alter legend colors in simulation results

Change how many colors the legend uses, or flag values that fall outside a range you set.

Online viewer

Prerequisites: You have run a static stress, thermal, thermal stress, modal frequencies, structural buckling, Fusion injection molding, or electronics cooling study and have results to view.

  1. Above the legend, click the settings icon next to the result name to open Result Settings.
  2. Use the Number of Colors slider to set how many color bands the legend uses (up to 256). Fewer colors create distinct zones; more colors create a smoother gradient.
  3. Select Show Threshold Slider to add upper and lower threshold markers to the legend. Drag a marker to flag values beyond it: data above the upper threshold displays in red, and data below the lower threshold displays in blue. Values between the thresholds keep their normal legend color.

Legacy viewer

Prerequisites: You have run a nonlinear static stress, event simulation, or shape optimization study and have results to view.

  1. Click legend options icon (Simulation workspace > Results tab > Result Tools panel > Legend Options) to open the Legend Options dialog.
  2. Use the Color Transition options to choose Smooth for a continuous gradient, or Banded for distinct color bands.
  3. Click OK to close the Legend Options dialog.
