View reactions forces and moments
Retrieve the reaction forces and moments at a constraint, as a contour plot, a 2D plot, or in tabulated format.
To view the Reaction Force result contour plot
Select a Static Stress, Thermal Stress, Nonlinear Static Stress, or Event Simulation study with results.
In the Results tab select Reaction Force from the Legend results selector.
To access the Reactions table
In the Results tab, click Inspect panel > Reactions , to open the Reactions dialog.
Select one or more vertices, edges, or faces that have constraints applied to them. You can mix the type of entities that comprise the selection set. The Reactions dialog reports the following quantities:
Force for the selected entities:
- X: The X component of the total resultant reaction force.
- Y: The Y component of the total resultant reaction force.
- Z: The Z component of the total resultant reaction force.
- sum: The total resultant reaction force.
Moment passing through the centroid of the selected entities:
- X: The total reaction moment about an axis parallel to the global X axis.
- Y: The total reaction moment about an axis parallel to the global Y axis.
- Z: The total reaction moment about an axis parallel to the global Z axis.
- sum: The total resultant reaction moment about an axis.
Note: For solid elements, the moment X, Y, and Z components and sum are zero when only a single vertex is selected. (Only the force results are applicable at a single vertex.)
Click Close when you have finished, to close the dialog.
To view a reaction force 2D plot
- Select a Nonlinear Static Stress, or Event Simulation study with results.
- In the Results tab select Reaction Force from the Legend results selector.
- At the legend, on the right of the Step slider, click to open the Transient Results Plot.
- When you have finished, click Close to close the dialog.
