Apply a remote force load

A remote force load is applied in structural analyses to represent a load that is applied from a point in space that has not been modeled.

remote force load

  1. Click structural loads icon (Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Loads panel > Structural Loads) to open the Structural Loads dialog.

  2. In the Structural Loads dialog, select remote force icon Remote Force from the Type drop-down menu.

  3. On your model, select the face(s) where the load is applied.

The dialog expands to show more setup options.

  4. In the Structural Loads dialog, choose the load direction:

    1. normal load direction icon Normal applies the load Normal to the selected face(s).

    2. angle load direction icon Angle applies the load according to the angle you select.

      Either

      1. In the Structural loads dialog, click select icon Select associated with Direction Reference, then on your model, select a face or edge for the reference direction.

      Or

      1. Enter values for the X Angle, Y Angle, and Z Angle

      Or

      1. Use the manipulators to alter the direction.
    3. load direction - vectors and components icon Vector) applies the specified load(s) along the vectors you choose.

      1. Enter the required load in each vector direction.
  5. Optionally, click flip direction icon Flip Direction to reverse the load direction.

  6. Optionally, click change units icon Override Units to choose alternative units.

  7. Specify the Magnitude of the load.

  8. Specify the location of the remote force.

    Or

    1. Enter values for the X Distance, Y Distance, and Z Distance,

    Or

    1. Drag the manipulator to the desired location.
  9. Click OK to apply the remote force load and close the Structural Loads dialog.
