Create Actions

Actions are the work that needs to be done to an asset depending on the results of the rehabilitation tree.

Each tree path must end in an action, and you will see the assigned action for each asset in the tree results.

For example, if you create a query to find assets with no recent inspections and an extreme or high risk grade, you may want to assign an action such as 'Inspect in next 3 months'.

Note: Each action can include a cost that is used to estimate rehabilitation budgets in the Decision Tree results. For simple estimates, you can assign a fixed cost. For more accurate budgets, link the action to a Cost Table, which applies unit costs based on asset characteristics such as material, diameter, or asset group.

When you add a cost to an action, you can specify a fixed cost or a cost per unit length. For a length-based cost, choose how the total is calculated:

• Full pipe length — the cost per unit is multiplied by the total length of the asset.
• Length of rehabilitation work — the cost per unit is multiplied only by the length that requires work, such as when a single section of pipe is relined or point-repaired rather than the entire run.

You can create actions from the Configuration tab by selecting Add New Action in the drop-down or from the Actions tab.

Once created, you can add the action to your tree as many times as you want.
