Tasks and events must be linked to an asset before they can appear on the map or be included in asset analysis.
Each task or event links to an asset through its Asset ID. If the Asset ID is missing, misspelled, or does not match an asset in your data, the task or event cannot be linked.
Tasks and events are user-defined types, so the asset type they link to comes from each type's own configuration. A task type might link to pipes, while an event type might link to manholes or pumps. That is why both use a single, generic Asset ID column rather than fixed columns such as upstream and downstream manhole IDs.
When a task or event type contains records that are not linked to an asset, a banner appears above the list showing how many.
If you only need to fix a few records:
After you save:
The system checks the asset and updates the link if the Asset ID matches.
If you have many unlinked tasks or events, you can fix them faster in a CSV file and upload the changes together. Select Fix Issues in the unlinked banner.
The CSV file must contain these columns:
| Record type | Column used for matching | Column to correct |
|---|---|---|
| Tasks | Task ID | Asset ID (new asset ID) |
| Events | Event ID | Asset ID (new asset ID) |
What happens next?
After the file is uploaded, the system automatically starts the re-linking process. It matches each row by Task ID or Event ID, then links the record to the asset with the corrected Asset ID.
Once a task or event is linked, it appears on the map and is included in asset analysis. Rows whose Asset ID still does not match an asset stay unlinked and continue to appear in the banner count.
