Hardware and OS Requirements for Data Connector

Software requirements

Supported Operating Systems:

Database access

Note: We do not currently support Active Directory users.

Network/Security requirements

The Info360 Insight Data Connector needs to be able to retrieve data from SCADA Historians/Databases, typically behind robust firewalls/security systems, and push that data to the Info360 cloud.

We recommend the following:
  • Install the Data Connector in a DMZ.
  • Install the Data Connector on an isolated system, without non-essential users and non-relevant applications. This will help avoid performance issues and exposure of database content to unintended users.
Note: Invalid network configurations are the primary source of issues when installing Data Connectors. If you have a complex network configuration or security system, we highly recommend setting up a call with our support team.

Historian/OPCUA server access

Outgoing ports

  • ODBC (configurable)
    • 1433 (MSSQL database)
    • 15221 (Oracle database)
    • 3306 (MySQL or MariaDB databases)
    • 5481 (Geo SCADA / ClearSCADA)
    • 5462 (OSI PI with OLEDB DAS)
    • 5465 (OSI PI with RQTP DAS)
  • OPCUA (customer-specific port)
  • OLE DB
    • 1433-1434 [SQL] and 14000 [License Server] (GE Proficy)

Internet access

Outgoing ports (all are required)

  • 8883 (AWS MQTTS/IoT)
  • 8443 (Greengrass MQTTS/IoT)
  • 443 (SSH)

Do not block: *.amazonaws.com

Incoming ports

  • 8883 and 8443 can be considered incoming ports.

Typically you do not need to explicitly open these ports since the Data Connector Software initiates connectivity with AWS IoT/MQTT servers and leaves that connection open.
