To manage storyboards

Add, Delete, or Export the selected storyboard. You can also export the selected storyboard as a video.

  1. Open the model.

  2. Click Present/Share glyph Present glyph Storyboard (Storyboard Creator).

  3. Storyboard Name side panel lists the storyboards associated with this model.

  4. Select a storyboard. Right-click to display a menu of basic options.

    • Add, Delete, or Export, the selected storyboard.
    • You can also export a storyboard to video. See below.

To export a storyboard as a video file that anyone can view

  1. In Storyboard Creator, click Export Current Storyboard As Video .

  2. Specify the encoder. For details, see "Advanced Tips," below.

  3. Specify the following:

    • File Name — Enter or browse to a location and enter a file name for the exported video.
    • Frame Rate — Enter the number of frames per second. By default, this is 25.
    • Use Viewport Resolution/Set Resolution — Specify whether to keep the current resolution and window size, or whether to set a specific resolution, which determines the window size of the video.
    • Keep Aspect Ratio — If this option is selected and you set a specific resolution, changing the screen width will adjust the screen height so that it remains at the same aspect ratio (and vice versa).

  4. To export just part of the storyboard, select Export Section and specify beginning and ending points.

  5. Click Record to export the video.

To export a storyboard in its native format

  1. Select the storyboard and click (Export Current Storyboard).
  2. Specify a location and a name for the exported file.

To import an exported storyboard

  1. Click Import Existing Storyboard.

  2. Specify the storyboard file to import.

    Note: If you are importing a ShowMotion file from a previous release, set the filter to All Files and navigate to the exported ShowMotion XML file.

Advanced Tips

Encoder options include the following:

Format Properties
Uncompressed Video A generic AVI format that has no properties you can specify.
Windows® Media Video The video compression format developed by Microsoft. Click Properties to set the encoding type to Windows Video Media 9 or Windows Video Media 9 Advanced Profile. You can also set a bitrate (in kilobits per second).
DV Video Encoder An AVI format that encodes an uncompressed video stream into digital video (DV). Click Properties to set the video format to one of the following:
  • NTSC (National Television System Committee standard). An analog color television encoding system. Despite a shift to digital broadcasting, much standard definition television still follows the NTSC standard for frame rate and resolution.
  • PAL (Phase Alternating Line). An analog color television encoding system used in broadcast television systems in many countries.

You can also set the DV Format (A format for recording and playing back digital video) and Resolution.
MJPEG Compressor An AVI format that compresses an uncompressed video stream using motion JPEG compression. It has no properties you can specify.
Note: You can also select and use other DirectShow-compatible encoders that are installed on your system.
