About Autodesk Docs and Autodesk InfraWorks

Autodesk Docs is a web service that allows you to collaborate on your InfraWorks models with team members and easily share web views of your models in the Autodesk Viewer.

Note: If you do not have an Autodesk Docs account, you can still work locally on a model. See About Collaboration.

About Autodesk Docs and InfraWorks

A valid Autodesk Docs account is required. Once you have an Autodesk Docs account, you can collaborate on your InfraWorks models using Autodesk Docs projects. Each Autodesk Docs account has one or two designated account administrators.

InfraWorks supports Autodesk Docs accounts configured within both US and European data centers.

Warning: The "Make Current" command in Autodesk Docs is not supported for InfraWorks models that have been published to a Autodesk Docs project. Using this command and can lead to model corruption.

About Autodesk Docs Document Management and InfraWorks

Autodesk Docs projects are unique locations where project members can share project data, manage versions and collaborate in the same cloud shared location. You can view and manage InfraWorks models from InfraWorks Home, or in Autodesk Docs using your web browser.

Use Autodesk Docs to create, publish, or synchronize an InfraWorks model or proposal. Autodesk Docs leverages the Autodesk Viewer to generate views of your design projects in a web browser.

About Roles

Autodesk Docs account administrators are typically the software administrators for your company. Account administrators can add, customize, and edit projects for use across Autodesk Docs web services. Only account administrators can create projects. After an account admin creates an Autodesk Docs project, an Autodesk Docs project administrator can assign project members to the project and invite them to activate their Autodesk Docs account if they have not done so already. - Account administrators: Autodesk Docs account administrators create Autodesk Docs projects and assign Autodesk Docs project administrators. See About Account Administration. - Project administrators: Autodesk Docs project administrators can invite, edit, and remove project members from an Autodesk Docs project. Project administrators can also manage folder permissions for project members. After upgrading InfraWorks, Project administrators upgrade and sync cloud shared models to Autodesk Docs for team collaboration. See About Project Administration for more information. - Project members: Autodesk Docs project members can see information for the projects for which they have been given access by a project administrator. They can share and access design data, discuss challenges and successes, and stay current with project activities.

Note: See About Model Status for an overview of how Autodesk Docs Document Management permissions affect your InfraWorks models and collaboration options.

About the Autodesk Viewer

When you publish an InfraWorks model to an BAutodesk Docs project, a web view of your model will be created. You can review these web views in the Autodesk Viewer, which allows you to switch between proposals in your model, navigate inside your models or proposals, place a first person view, add markups, inspect model properties, analyze features, add hyperlinks, and show/hide layers in your models. The toolbar provides tools based on the currently active view (2D or 3D). You can also customize the Autodesk Viewer settings. See About Viewing 2D and 3D Designs. Note: The Autodesk Viewer will only generate web views for InfraWorks models that have been published to an Autodesk Docs project from the InfraWorks desktop environment. The Autodesk Viewer will not generate web views for InfraWorks models that were uploaded to an Autodesk Docs project from a web browser. See About Uploading and Publishing Documents.
