Model Builder allows you to quickly and easily create models based on a specific area of interest.
You can use the Model Builder with or without an Autodesk Docs account.
If you have an Autodesk Docs account, you can store your models in the Autodesk Docs project folder of your choosing.
If you do not have an Autodesk Docs account, you can store your models locally on your system.
From InfraWorks Home, click Model Builder.
Click (Switch to aerial) from the top right of the dialog to display an aerial view or click (Switch to road) for the road view.
Type a location into the search field or navigate to the location for your model.
Enter a name for the model and optionally a description.
Select a coordinate system for the model. This cannot be changed once the model has been created.
To get started quickly, you can select LL84 as the model's coordinate system. However, if you plan to send this Infraworks model to other applications like Autodesk Civil3D or Autodesk Revit, do not use LL84; choose a projected coordinate system instead of a geographic coordinate system.
Click Create Model.
InfraWorks will confirm that your model is being prepared.
InfraWorks sends an email notification to the email address associated with your Autodesk Account when Model Builder has successfully created the model.
The new Model Builder model displays in the Recent page of InfraWorks Home as a cloud-only Model Builder model, which is not yet locally cached on your machine or associated with an Autodesk Docs project.
Click the model tile.
A dialog displays, prompting you to choose how you want to store the new model.
If you select Autodesk Docs, you will be prompted to select an Autodesk Docs project folder to store the new model in. If you select Local, the model will be saved to your default cache location, as defined in Application Options.
Once you select the storage option for this new model, InfraWorks will upgrade and open the model.
