To create a refined bridge analytical model

  1. In your InfraWorks project, select a bridge.

Note: Only parametric girder slab bridges (which are created in corridor component roads or component roads) are currently supported.
  2. Click Analyze > Structures > refined analysis (Refined Analysis). The Refined Analysis dialog box opens.

  3. On the Settings tab, specify the parameters to create your analytical model. The settings vary slightly depending on the chosen analytical model type. Hover the cursor over each setting for more details in a tooltip.

    • General. Specifies the analytical model type (either Grillage, FE - Offset girder, FE - I-Plate Girder, or FE - Box Girder). You can also specify a range of spans on which to create the model.

Note: For finite element model analysis, you can specify a hybrid analytical model in which the defined range is represented by finite elements, and the remaining spans of the bridge, within range, are generated as grillage.
    • Mesh Control. Defines the longitudinal and transversal spacing of the mesh used in the analytical model. The mesh type is automatically selected based on the bridge geometry.

    • Support Conditions. Both start and end constraints are aligned longitudinally by default.

    • Structure Properties. Specifies the section properties supplied to the analysis (grillage only: Gross or Transformed). Cracked section properties specify the percentage on each end of the span distance for the cracked concrete section to be used in analysis.

    • Other. Specifies other details for analysis such as edge parapet and diaphragm considerations.

    • Information. Define project and company information to associate with the analytical model.

  4. Click Preview to review a summary of the object data to be used for the analysis calculations. This read-only data also includes a preview of the meshing to be applied span by span.

  5. Click Start Analysis when ready. There is a status indicator at the bottom of the Refined Analysis dialog. The analysis may take a while depending on the analytical model chosen. You can cancel the analysis at any time.

  6. Once the refined bridge analysis is complete, the results and supporting files are downloaded to a local directory:

    C:\Users\ username \Documents\Autodesk Bridge Analysis\ proposal \ bridge name

When the download is complete, you can:

    • Select the Results tab to view drawings representative of the analytical model.
    • Click Open Output Folder to view the supporting files of the analytical model.
    • Click View Report to view a detailed summary of the analytical model.
    • Click View Log File to view the processing log of the refined bridge analysis.
    • Click Open in ASBD to view the model in Autodesk Structural Bridge Design for further design and analysis.
