To view InfraWorks models in Oculus Rift

InfraWorks models can be visualized using an Oculus Rift (CV1) virtual reality headset.

Note: The Oculus Rift (also known as "Consumer Version 1", or "CV1") is the only Oculus Rift hardware currently supported for use with Autodesk InfraWorks.

Prepare your system

Before you attempt to connect your InfraWorks models to an Oculus Rift headset, review Oculus Rift system requirements, hardware configuration, and settings:

  1. Download the latest Oculus Rift software from https://www.oculus.com/setup/.

  2. Review the Oculus Rift Minimum Requirements and System Specifications.

  3. Check the connection between your remote sensor and the Oculus Rift.

    • USB 3.0 ports are recommended.
    • USB 2.0 ports are supported as well, but can lead to poor performance results.
  4. Make sure you have connected the Oculus Rift directly to your graphics card via HDMI. Note: If your Oculus Rift headset shows a black screen (the LED light in the headset is orange), try connecting to a DVI port instead, using a DVI-HDMI adapter. If this does not resolve the black screen display, your graphics card may not be compatible with Oculus Rift. For further troubleshooting, contact Oculus Rift support.

  5. Using the Oculus Rift application you have installed, verify that the Oculus Rift, sensor, and remote are being detected on your local system.

  6. Check that your headset LED and sensor LED are displaying a white light.

  7. Check that Oculus services are running on your local system. On Windows, you can find these listed in the Processes tab of the Windows Task Manager

  2. Open an InfraWorks model. Note: We recommend using a model that contains bookmarks and/or storyboards, which enables more navigation options in Oculus Rift mode.
  3. Click Present/Share Glyph Present Glyph Oculus Rift (Oculus Rift). Note: The Oculus Rift Oculus Rift mode icon is not available for use in InfraWorks until the Oculus Rift software and hardware is properly installed and configured as described in the "Prepare your system" instructions above.
  4. Put on your Oculus Rift headset and move your head slightly to activate it.
  5. After a few seconds, you should see your InfraWorks model in the headset.
