About Component Roads
Component roads are assemblies of different parts, such as lanes, curbs, gutters, medians, shoulders, and sidewalks. You can add, split, delete, or modify every component and assembly in your roadway project, and save custom road assembly configurations to your library so you can use them again.
A variety of advanced tools for design, inspection and analysis are available only to component roads. See About Component Roads and Planning Roads.
Component Parts and Assemblies
Add lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, medians, shoulders, and transitions where needed. Place decorations on components. Create and save road assemblies for reuse.
Superelevation
Use the Stack and the right-click context menu to apply superelevation to selected component roads. Inspect road model cross-sections, turn lane sections, intersection areas, and bridge decks in real time using the Section Viewer. You can also add pavement drainage along roads with complex cross sections such as multiple gutters or superelevated regions.
Roadside Grading
Set different slopes and choose different grading materials for each side of the road.
Road Transitions
Model linear road transitions where the road cross-sections change. Add lanes, curbs, and transitions where needed and control the transitions where those parts start and end along a road. When adding pavement drainage to a component road, inlet placement and analysis accounts for any road transitions.
Material Quantities
Review earthwork cut and fill quantities for any lane or road section. View earthwork quantities in the Analysis Hub and export them to CSV.
Pavement Marking
Quickly turn pavement (lane) markings on or off for selected component roads.
