Sequencer timeline and playback controls

The Sequencer editor timeline and playback controls display the current sequence time range, the current sequence time, and controls for navigating and playing back the sequence.

Sequence timeline

The sequence timeline displays sequence time. Dragging the sequence time indicator changes the current sequence time and updates the Maya scene view accordingly. You can also change the sequence time using the playback controls.

Scene evaluation at a given sequence time is performed by setting Maya time to the Maya time defined by the shot active at that sequence time. The active shot is the uppermost shot at the current sequence time in the Sequencer editor.

Sync the Maya Time Slider with the Sequencer

When Sync Timeline is enabled (View > Sync Timeline), the Maya Time Slider and Range Slider update to match the frame range of the shot at the current sequence time.

As you move the playhead in the Sequencer, the Time Slider frame range updates to the start and end frames of the active shot. This allows you to scrub and work within the frame range of the current shot.
