Sequencer toolbar

The Sequencer toolbar displays frequently used tools for creating, editing, and playing back shots. Some toolbar buttons include a persistent tool group caret that provides access to related actions.

Common tools for clip manipulation:

Use these tools to directly modify shots in the sequence, such as splitting, trimming, reordering, and cleaning up timing.

Create Shot from Time Slider

Creates a shot using the current Time Slider selection.

Sub-options:

  • Create Shot: Creates a shot on the current track.
  • Create Shot from Time Slider: Creates a shot using the current Time Slider position.

Frame All Frames all shots in the Sequencer view.

Split Shot Splits the selected shot at the current sequence time.

Trim Before Trims the selected shot before the sequence time cursor.

Remove Selected Shot Gaps

Removes gaps between selected shots on the track.

Sub-options:

  • Remove Selected Shot Gaps: Removes gaps between selected shots.
  • Remove Selected Shot Overlaps: Removes overlapping portions between selected shots.
  • Remove Selected Shot Gaps and Overlaps: Removes all gaps and overlaps for selected shots.

Review and shot ordering

Use these tools to review shots and adjust their order without directly changing shot timing or structure.

Playblast

Playblasts shots from the Sequencer.

Sub-options:

  • Playblast All Shots: Playblasts all shots in the Sequencer.
  • Playblast Selected Shots: Playblasts only the selected shots.
  • Playblast Sequence: Playblasts the full sequence.

Swap Shot Before Swaps the selected shot with the adjacent shot positioned before it.

Sequencer modes and display options

Use these toggles to change how the Sequencer behaves or appears.

Mode toggles affect editing or playback behavior until turned off, rather than performing a one-time action.

Time Scale Mode Enables Time Scale mode for retiming shots.

Sync Timeline Synchronizes the Sequencer timeline with the Maya Time Slider.

Ripple Edit Enables or disables Ripple Edit mode. When enabled, editing a shot affects the timing of adjacent shots.

Play without Gaps Plays shots consecutively, skipping gaps between shots during playback.
