To create a point on curve locator
- Create a NURBS curve. (See
Draw NURBS Curves.)
- To select a curve point on the curve, right-click the curve and select
Curve Point from the marking menu.
- Click on the curve at where you would like to create the point on curve locator constraint. The curve point is displayed as a small yellow box.
- Drag along the curve to adjust the point’s position on the curve.
As you drag, you move the curve point. The curve point’s position is defined in terms of the curve’s U parameter.
- From the
Animation (F4),
Modeling (F2), or
Rigging (F3) menu sets: Select
Deform > Point On Curve >
.
The
Point On Curve Options window appears.
- Set the options. You can also do the following:
- Select
Edit > Save Settings to save the constraint options and keep the options window open.
- Select
Edit > Reset Settings to reset to the default constraint options and keep the options window open.
- Do one of the following:
- Click
Create to create a point on curve locator constraint.
Maya creates a locator at the curve point with the default point on curve options. The curve point is now constrained to the locator.
For each curve, Maya creates a least squares modifier node (default name: leastSquaresModifiern).
- Click
Apply to create a point on curve locator constraint and keep the options window open.
